FINAL SUBMISSION PROJECT 2

“Why still speak of the real and the virtual, the material and immaterial? Here these categories are not in opposition, or in some metaphysical disagreement, but more in an electroliquid aggregation, enforcing each other, as in a two part adhesive.”

 Overall Shot
The combination of the rectilinear form the curvature and the space in between. The curvature form has been represented at a larger scale to immerse the students in the architecture.

 Viewing window
Entrance 1
The viewing window has been placed right at the first entrance to attract students to have their own perspective to how this space makes them feel and what the space says about architecture.

 Space in between
Lights have been placed around the space in between to light up this space at night.
The curving armatures have been extended from the curvature monument.

 Rectilinear form
The rectilinear form explores the idea of simplistic architecture that adapts to its surroundings.
this is done by creating a form that can be drawn without taking the pen off the paper.

 Entrance 2
Entrance two gives a different perspective with height over the whole space and monument.

 Entrance 3 from curvature form
Entrance three, is all about the curvature monument. from the walkway leading up to it then you are greeted with the super large scale monument.

On looking the "space in between" and the curvature form

 Overall shot 2
This shot, shows how the free flowing architecture of the space in between, adapts to its surrounding environment.

The idea behind this project was to create a monument space where students from different faculties are able to
congregate and communicate with each other. The monument design and driving concept was based on a combination of earlier concepts developed in the earlier weeks.

The concept used for this design was to

"Create a free flowing architecture that adapts to its natural surroundings"

Expanding from the original axonometric drawings from the earlier weeks, I decided to focus on a free flowing form of architecture. This is seen through the transition and the combination of the rectilinear form and the curvature form into the one monument space.

I have also decided to adapt the curvature form into the "space in between" to create a transitional bridge between the two elements where students are able to gather together on either side of the protruding platforms. These protruding platforms also allows the architecture to adapt to its surroundings.

The free flowing architecture is more prominent on the curvature side, but it can also be seen in the rectilinear form as there are no breaks or subdivisions on the rectilinear form but rather one smooth continuous form, that interweaves with itself.

MODEL IN LUMION Progress.

“Why still speak of the real and the virtual, the material and immaterial? Here these categories are not in opposition, or in some metaphysical disagreement, but more in an electroliquid aggregation, enforcing each other, as in a two part adhesive.”

Monument part 1.

SKETCHUP LANDFORM

Sketchup Monument, with people added to represent scale.

Sketch up model update. altered the "space in between" after re reading the brief, and in discussion with other students.
the organic shape in between has taken the small part of the rectilinear form and then applied with the artisans tool to create.

LIGHT, MEDIUM, DARK

Light, Medium and Dark textures applied to monument.

MACRO SCALE MONUMENTS

Added macro scale monument elements, to my space. added details are the stairs for circulation and some public seating based of the curvilinear forms of my space.

SKETCHUP MODEL PROGRESS MONUMENT

Sketchup model in progress, taken from axonometric and curvilinear axo.
Styles have been adapted from sketchup, to provide a sketchy perspective and quick walkthrough.

Concept = Creating a free flowing architecture that adapts to its natural surroundings.
The idea behind this is create it at a building scale size. Where the students and teachers themselves can immerse themselves completely
in the space.
